Things To Do

The Wedding Website of zoe ganch and joe farren
There is so much to do and see in Barcelona (and the Catalunya region)! Below are a few of our favorite places we explored during our time living in Barcelona.

DO: Take the Teleférico to Montjuïc

Ride the cable car from the beach up to Montjuïc for unbeatable city views, then grab lunch at Terraza Martínez for paella with a view.

DO: Day Trip to Montserrat

A quick train ride from Barcelona, this stunning mountain monastery is worth the trip. Hike around, see the famous Black Madonna, and soak in the incredible views. Pssst: also featured in New York Times' top 52 destinations for 2025!

DO: Park Güell

Barcelona, CT 08024, Spain

Gaudí at his most whimsical. The colorful mosaic benches and fairytale-like structures make this park a must-visit. Pro tip: book tickets in advance.

DO: Casa Batlló

Gaudí’s architectural masterpiece is already worth visiting, but their Magic Nights rooftop concerts take it to the next level.

DO: Miró Museum

If you like bold colors and surreal art, this museum dedicated to Joan Miró is a must. Bonus: it’s on Montjuïc, so you get great city views too.

EAT: Mercado de la Boqueria

The ultimate food market. Grab fresh juices, jamón ibérico, seafood, or whatever catches your eye—just don’t go on an empty stomach.

DO: Parc de la Ciutadella

Barcelona’s version of Central Park, complete with a lake, a grand fountain, and plenty of space to picnic or just take a breather.

EAT: Beach Chiringuitos

These casual beach bars serve up cold drinks and fresh seafood with your toes in the sand. Try Xiringuito Escribà for great paella or Bambú for sunset cocktails.

EAT: El Born & Gothic Quarter Tapas Crawl

Wander through the narrow streets of these historic neighborhoods and stop at classic tapas spots like El Xampanyet (for cava and anchovies) and Bodega La Puntual (for amazing patatas bravas).

DO: Barceloneta Paddleboarding

Rent a paddleboard in the morning when the water is calm, then reward yourself with a seafood feast at Can Majó or La Cova Fumada after.

DO: Day Trip to Sitges

A beautiful seaside town just 40 minutes away with charming streets, great beaches, and an excellent food scene.

EAT: Disfrutar

A two-Michelin-starred spot with creative tasting menus. If you’re into modern gastronomy, this is the place to splurge.

EAT: Quimet & Quimet

A standing-room-only tapas bar known for its montaditos (small open-faced sandwiches) and insane selection of conservas (tinned seafood).

EAT: El Nacional

A beautiful multi-restaurant space where you can hop between tapas, seafood, and a full steakhouse all under one stunning roof.

EAT: Fismuler

Trendy, laid-back spot with creative dishes and an amazing gorgonzola cheesecake that Zoe swears by!

DRINK: Paradiso

A secret speakeasy hidden behind a pastrami shop, serving up some of the best cocktails in the world.

DRINK: Dr. Stravinsky

Alchemy meets cocktails at this science lab-style bar where drinks are as fun to watch being made as they are to drink.

EAT: Tapeo

A top-tier tapas spot in El Born with great croquettes and grilled octopus.

EAT: La Lolita

A fun, casual spot known for its flavorful tapas and excellent vermouth.

EAT: Pez Vela

Beachfront restaurant with fresh seafood, fantastic paella, and stunning views of the Mediterranean.

EAT: Xemei

A hidden Venetian restaurant serving some of the best Italian food in Barcelona.

EAT: Da Nanni Pizzeria

If you’re craving authentic Italian pizza, this cozy spot has you covered. Joe and Zoe's favorite pizza spot in Poblenou.

EAT: Tierra del Fuego

An Argentinian steakhouse with high-quality cuts and a warm ambiance. Insane steak.

EAT: Fisker Bar

A great lunch spot in Barcelona’s port area, serving fresh seafood and Mediterranean dishes.

DRINK: Quilombo Piano Bar

A lively piano bar with a fun atmosphere and great live music.

DRINK: Balius Bar

A chic cocktail bar with a focus on craft drinks and organic ingredients. Down the street from where Joe and Zoe lived.

EAT: Xurreria

One of the best spots in the city for fresh, crispy churros and thick, rich hot chocolate.

DRINK: Orxateria El Tío Che

The best place to try horchata, a traditional Valencian drink made from tiger nuts. Joe hates it, Zoe loves it. Choose your side.

DO: Sagrada Familia

Gaudí’s masterpiece that’s still under construction—but it’s stunning inside and out. Book tickets in advance!

DO: Trip to Tibidabo Amusement Park

Head up to this historic amusement park at the top of the city for retro rides, epic views, and a visit to the gorgeous Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor (looks like a mini Sacré-Cœur). Ride the funicular for the full experience.
