FAQs

Question

So... when is the ceremony?

Answer

We already had it actually! The beautiful photo of the two of us in the photos section is from our Nikah in the summer of 2019 in Chicago. The Nikah is the Islamic marriage ceremony and we had a lovely small ceremony performed by Imam Jamal Mahmood with Muslims for Progressive Values. Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Aslam for hosting!

Question

I am having trouble RSVPing. Can you help?

Answer

Yes, we can! Please e-mail Saad (saad.aslam39@gmail.com), Zoe (zoe.e.r.kaiser@gmail.com), or both and we can accommodate you.

Question

Is there parking for the reception?

Answer

Yes there is a small parking lot on the west side of the conservatory. We recommend you take Uber or Lyft to the ceremony. There's ample parking at Ashton Place.

Question

I have a dietary restriction - will I have something to eat?

Answer

Many of our friends and family have specific dietary preferences and we definitely do not want to let you go hungry. Please answer the RSVP question with details so we can find a tasty option for you.

Question

What should I wear?!

Answer

Please wear what makes you comfortable! If you want to wear western wedding clothes, that's great, and if you prefer wearing kurta, that's great too. At the conservatory, Zoe and Saad will be western clothes. At the Mehndi, Zoe and Saad will be wearing kurta, and we invite you to do the same. Please check out the weather as we get closer, March in Chicago is unpredictable, and Garfield Park Conservatory is a greenhouse.

Question

Where are you registered?

Answer

We are just registered on Zola, this website. Thank you so much for asking!

Question

Will guests be vaccinated against COVID-19?

Answer

All guests are required to bring proof of vaccination against COVID-19. If you've been exposed or are experiencing symptoms, please stay home and get well soon. Note that the city of Chicago requires proof of full vaccination for all indoor venues.

Question

What is kurta and where can I get it?

Answer

Kurta is the name for formalwear for a Pakistani wedding! It's typically a long top and pants for both men and women. The name for women is a "shalwar kameez" and for men is "sherwani." If you search those terms with your gender and wedding you will find some options to buy online or locally. A great site to use is www.utsavfashion.com. Another chance to go shopping is at your local Eid Bazaar - look out for it at the end of ramandan!

Question

What should I do if I have questions about the event?

Answer

Please feel free to reach out to us! We will also have a day-of coordinator and will share her details as the date gets closer.

Question

Can we bring kids?

Answer

Whatever you prefer! We will gladly arrange childcare so you can enjoy a night out. If you would prefer bring your kids, we will ensure there's some kid-friendly food.
