We ask guests to plan on being at the venue, Christianson's nursery, by 3:45 so there is time to get seated before the ceremony starts at 4. However, we encourage everyone to arrive early, so you have time to sign the guest book and enjoy welcome drinks in the garden starting from 3:30 on. Christianson's will be operating with normal business hours (9 am - 6 pm).
Google Maps will give you different answers to this, depending on the day/time. However, traffic out of the Seattle area can be spectacularly bad, so we -highly- suggest planning for at least a 2 hour drive. If you are driving from the Seattle area on Saturday, we recommend leaving no later than 12 pm. There are plenty of options in the area (i.e. ice cream at Snow Goose produce) to kill time before the wedding if you arrive early.
There will be designated spaces to park at Christianson's, in addition to the normal parking spaces.
All events will be at the venue at Christianson's Nursery. However, welcome drinks, the ceremony, and the reception will all be at different spots on the nursery grounds, so we suggest that you bring shoes appropriate for walking outside on grass/gravel paths to enjoy the beautiful grounds at your leisure.
We plan on having the ceremony and cocktail hour held outside, with the reception held inside the Vinery building at Christianson's. That being said, the end of September in the PNW can be unpredictable... in the event of heavy rain, we will be inside the whole time. And we encourage those coming from out of state to pack an umbrella for your trip--just in case!
We are working with a fabulous photographer to capture the wedding, so we request that all guests keep their phones away during the actual ceremony. The rest of the wedding is fair game though!
Please look at the note for requesting barbecue options for dinner. In addition to the mains, there will be several sides that should fit a variety of needs. If there is an additional dietary need you have that is not addressed there, or an allergy of particular concern, please contact us.
Our vibe is "Fall garden party". We recommend sturdy shoes (aka probably not stilettos) appropriate for enjoying a nice stroll around the grounds of the nursery.
Is your name Zoë Havlena?
We are hoping that seasonal sicknesses shouldn't be an issue by the time of the wedding. However, both Nels and Zoë have close family members that are immunocompromised, so we respectfully request that if you are feeling unwell right before the wedding, that you please stay home so we can protect our loved ones.
We do not have any blocks of rooms reserved. However, we encourage you to check out our list of recommended hotels in La Conner, or see if any of the AirBnb options on Camano Island strike your fancy.
Here on Zola! There are also two cute shops at the venue that will be open until 6 pm, in case you need a last minute gift.
