Kyle and I really enjoy going to the snow to ski/snowboard. So in 2023, on our two year anniversary, Kyle really wanted us to spend a week in the snow. A few days on our own, then join some friends in a cabin afterwards. I was immediately suspicious when Kyle insisted that I "have a self care day" and go get my nails done. This is coming from a man who barely notices if I am wearing sweatpants or a ballgown. Then he had my best friend text me to ALSO make sure I take a self care day and get my nails done. I knew something was up. While we were on our trip, we had a nice dinner and as soon as we walked into the restaurant, the hostess tells us "Congratulations!" I have never turned and looked at Kyle so fast and said "Congratulations for what?!" In typical Kyle fashion he just shrugged his shoulders and said that he told everyone it was our anniversary. During the dinner, our waiter kept encouraging Kyle to take shot after shot and saying "You got this man!" I thought this was the moment for sure. Then dinner ended. No ring. I was confused and thought maybe I was just reading into everything and suddenly my boyfriend cared about my cuticle health. It wasn't until days later when we were walking/playing on a frozen lake with friends at the cabin, that Kyle had us get together for a picture. He grabbed my hands, gave a beautiful speech, and asked the question finally. Afterwards we went to a total dive bar to celebrate while we called everyone that we knew. Since then, we have only come to love each other more and are beyond excited that the big day has finally arrived.
