From Kara: I knew right from the beginning that our relationship was going to be something special. Everything about our relationship felt like it happened at the exact right time. We found each other on a dating website, when neither of us even spent much time on there. Then our first date was supposed to be a short coffee date, that then stretched out to 6 hours. I may not believe in fate, but I will never stop being grateful for the serendipity of us meeting. From Zoe: Kara came into my life at precisely the right time. Even without everyone telling me we sounded perfect for each other, I knew I had found someone special. The 6 hour first date was proof enough. I remember sitting on a bench, smoking cigarettes and smiling like crazy as I waited for my ride home. And Kara still makes me smile like crazy. I think I’ve really known for a long time that this is the woman I want to share and spend my life with. From all her surprises (I really didn’t know I was getting engaged for my birthday), to all the mundane moments (who better to sit and watch Marvel shows with?), I still think about that first date. There’s a Japanese phrase- koi no yokan. It doesn’t mean love at first sight, but closer to love at second sight. It’s the feeling when you meet someone that you’re going to fall in love with them. Maybe not right away, but it’s inevitable that you will. I think that one is a perfect fit.
