Jake and Zoë met while on a study abroad program in Israel during Fall of 2016. They became close friends over the course of the program, and bonded through exploring the Middle East, sharing falafel & ice cream, and napping together on long bus rides. At the end of the program, Jake asked Zoë out in JFK airport before rushing through customs to make a connecting flight. (He missed the flight, but so did the rest of the students. Oops.) Their first date was the following January, and it went well enough that Jake proposed a year later. Jake and Zoë went from Winter in Utah to Summer in New York and Portland, as well as multiple trips to Mexico, Idaho, and California throughout the year.
