The year was 2016 and the Tinder dating app was at its peak in Millenial popularity. In May of that year, two Philadelphia transplants happened to swipe right and match. Within hours the two began exchanging messages, talking about anything and everything, ending in the scheduling of a first "date". The date is in quotes due to the reality that Tinder first dates are not normal first dates. They are meetings to sus-out the potential partner in a hi-tension, 'please don't kill me, I have my roommate on speed dial kind of way. There is no romance only curiosity and the hope that you will be interested enough to schedule the real first date later on. The couple in question met on a sunny afternoon at the fratty watering hole Frankford Hall. The boy didn't take his sunglasses off once, and the girl kept her leather jacket on despite sweating heavily. The two filled their initial interaction with witty banter that would be described by most as rude and actually kind of not funny at all. Which worked, because both have wicked senses of humor and the need to have the last word. This "date" turned out to be the first of approximately 257 over the last six years. Two cities, six apartments, four pets, one very old house, and countless laughs later these two have learned one thing to be for sure. Life without the other is just plain boring.
