It Was Fate

11/26/2014

Their story began at a dive bar in Denver, Colorado the day before Thanksgiving (also known as "Black Wednesday") in 2014. This bar is not a place where a person typically finds their soul mate. Adam was living in Milwaukee at the time and visiting Colorado to spend the holidays with his family. As the night progressed, they caught each other's eye and started talking. Thirty minutes into the conversation, Adam still had not offered to buy Zoë a drink. He claims that the conversation was just too captivating. Before they knew it, Zoë's friends were pulling her away to the next bar. By the end of the week, Zoë had a new friend request on Facebook and it happened to be Adam (even though he won't admit this). They went their separate ways. One year later, on the infamous "Black Wednesday", Zoë was invited to her friend's house for a small party before going out. When Zoë entered the house, Adam happened to be sitting on the couch. Adam almost did not go out that night, as he was golfing earlier that day. His dad convinced him by saying "you never know if the future Mrs. Schmitz is out there". They said hello, acting as if they were meeting for the first time, when they both remembered meeting one year ago. Zoë decided to sit next to Adam and spark conversation since he was taking too long to make the first move. That night, Adam asked Zoë to go on their first date before he left for Milwaukee. Zoë agreed. Little did Zoë know, that night she would also be meeting his parents, sister, brother-in-law, grandparents, aunt and uncle. Despite this, she still stuck around. She visited Milwaukee two short months later. And the rest, as they say, was history.
