When Dylan was a senior in high school he messaged Kristina on Facebook...but she did not reply. She was a college freshman at the time! No way a high school boy was in the cards. Dylan was persistent and tried a few more times... "hey"...no reply...."hey"....no reply..."hey"....no reply. Eventually, he gave up and unfriended Kristina. Time goes by and now it's about three years later. Kristina is a junior in college. She's home for the summer and goes grocery shopping with her mom. While checking out the groceries, Tammie notices a boy a couple aisles down (the cashier on that lane) looking at, or you could say "checking Kristina out". Tammie mentions it to Kristina. From there, Kristina's interest was peaked. She didn't know who he was and for the next month or so, she would try to sneak a glance at his name tag anytime she was at the store. Towards the end of June, Kristina finally got the information she needed...his name, Dylan Hunter. So, she goes on Facebook later that day, finds him, makes sure it's the cute boy from the grocery store, yup it is. With the encouragement from a friend, she messages him. Quickly, she gets a reply back and shoots her shot, telling him she thought he was cute and wanted to get to know him better. From there she notices the messages previously sent by Dylan years ago but laughs it off. Times are different now (but this is still a running joke!) We make plans to meet the next evening. Kristina brings a friend along and they meet Dylan along with a bunch of his friends in Antigo in a parking lot. We chat and things are good. We took a drive together to talk and have our first kiss. It was a match. From this day forward, we started dating and well... the rest is history! July 1st 2015 is the day we met and started dating and July 1st 2023 is the day we will be getting married! On our 8 year anniversary. Where does that time go?
We had previously talked about engagements and rings many times. So the idea was no surprise to anyone! But, the day it happened was a surprise to Kristina. We were on one of our many California adventures that day when we decided on Corona Del Mar. We got all dressed in our beach attire and headed that way in the mustang. Kristina immediately hopped out of the car to go straight to the beach. But Dylan was still behind fiddling around in the trunk for an oddly suspicious amount of time. Kristina was clueless though so Dylan was all set. We walked along the beach, taking in the views, the ocean breeze, and all the people. Towards the end of the beach is a rocky area that was a perfect spot to climb on and explore. Dylan decided to go in further and asked Kristina to crawl on over. Kristina initially resisted but quickly found the courage to climb over to the area Dylan was in. Dylan had his phone set up on a rock pointed towards the ocean. We started to take a photograph together when Dylan bent down on one knee, pulled a ring out of his pocket, and asked Kristina to marry him. Of course the answer was yes! It was perfect!
