Our love story began on a crisp April Saturday, brought together on a bus headed to the Keeneland horse races. Thanks to a little last-minute persuasion from our friend (shout out to Daniel Deboe) Brandon found himself stepping onto that bus bright and early. Unbeknownst to him, he would soon be delivering a phone charger that Leah had requested Dan to bring—the first of many sparks to fly. We spent the entire Raceday together, engaging in the art of people-watching and of course betting on horses. Leah ended the day with a whopping $32 in winnings, which was very impressive to Brandon. As luck would have it, on the ride home, we found ourselves sitting next to each other, sharing stories and laughter as we cruised through the hills of Kentucky and into the bright lights of Cincinnati. It was during that ride that Brandon asked Leah out on an official first date, and what better place than Cincinnati’s finest, Jeff Ruby’s Precinct? From that moment on, it was truly off to the races! We quickly discovered our shared love for music, sports, comedy, and, of course, food. We danced, sang, cheered, laughed, and ate our way through the next year. The next April, we moved in together into a charming 100-year-old house. We made it our home, filling it with cherished family heirlooms, meaningful art, vibrant plants, and plenty of extra Ikea wardrobe closets. We grew closer to each other’s families, adopting old traditions while creating new ones. Fast-forward another year, now two years from that lucky day at the races. A rainy April afternoon, Brandon got down on one knee and proposed. Against the odds, a west-sider and an east-sider found love. We’re looking forward to seeing you all in April 2025.
