In the summer of 2020, Zhana and Kevin were more (physically) active. They both decided the most sane thing to do in a DC summer was to bike outdoors. During a social distancing park hangout with their bike group, Zhana asked to sit next to Kevin on his blanket. They hit it off and decided to meet again for a coffee in the park. Kevin believed that, in those isolating days, Zhana sought platonic companionship. Zhana had other ideas. While enjoying their coffee hangout, Zhana ordered an avocado toast to-go but forgot to ask for utensils. So for the first hour, Kevin witnessed Zhana devour her breakfast like a sailor lost at sea tasting fresh water for the first time. At that moment, Kevin knew "she was the one." They proceeded to spend the next 8 hours together and ordered takeout dinner to eat at another park. When they finally decided to depart, Kevin walked Zhana to her car and remained unsure whether it was safe to lean in for a hug or take his mask off for a kiss. In his indecision, Kevin and Zhana stood in complete silence, their masks hiding any expression that could not be communicated through their eyes. After two minutes passed, Zhana said her goodbyes and Kevin pondered if Zhana's rapid eye blinking could perhaps have been morse code signaling Kevin to make a move. On the next date, she was less subtle. They presently live together with their cat Juniper and bearded dragon Tango.
