The Beginning

Mj and I first met in May 2013 during Nurse's Week. My first impression of him was," Why is this guy so overdressed for his first day of work--he just completed his first day of orientation and was dressed "to the nines" lol. Then again I shouldn't be talking...he met me when I was dressed in an ugly lime green luau dress hahaha. So anyway, with me being the youngest nurse on the unit at that time, I got "voluntold" to train him...ughh. He already had some b/g experience from the military, so it wasn't that hard to train him. Shortly after he started working on our unit, we got to know each other more and became friends. We shared some things in common like: finding out we both live in San Jose just five minutes away from each other, enjoying hanging out with friends, being a homebody and just wanting to sleep in the whole weekend, watching movies, and of course sharing the love of food! Mj was a great friend, and that's all that we were...just friends and nothing more (he was into the blondes and brunettes lol and I was in a relationship at the time)... Fast forward to 2015 or so--Mj had left the VA and moved up North. We remained friends when he moved away, but of course, we eventually started to lose touch. Fast forward again to 2018. I decided to try out the dating world of Tinder...lmao...oh man that was a hot mess. Mj and I were still friends (and both single) and kept in touch from time to time. Anyway, I won't go into too much detail, but I told MJ about me trying out Tinder. Long story short, a good friend saved me from almost getting catfished. I vented to MJ about it, and told me there's still a lot of good guys out there. A few days later, he tells me he wants to give us a try and asks me out on our first date...the rest is history :)

The Proposal

November 20, 2018

It was the week of Thanksgiving 2018. I had taken the day off from work to go up to Roseville to do a final run-through inspection of our new home. I didn't care to put on any makeup or dress up b/c you know, I'm not a morning person. I left the house with my hair tied back, dressed in an old pair of jeans and a sweatshirt. 'Twas another ordinary day for me...or so I thought... After the appointment, Mj, Bj (his sis), and I decided to have lunch. We dined in at a restaurant in Loomis called The High Hand (it's a greenhouse restaurant/nursery). So we're there, we eat lunch, and before leaving, Mj wanted to order some dessert. Bj didn't care too much for sweets so she said she'd browse around in the nursery. I had told her to look at some succulents for me since I was thinking of buying some. We finish eating our dessert and went to look for Bj at the nursery. We find her but as we got closer we started walking further away from the succulent garden. Odd, but I didn't think much of it yet. Eventually we stopped in front if this really pretty Bonsai tree. It was getting weird b/c she kept looking at it and touching it and in the background I can hear Mj muttering to Bj to take the "to-go" boxes from my hands and carry them herself. So anyway, she keeps looking at the tree, and so I suggested to take a picture of it. She goes to the other side of the tree and starts taking pictures only for me to notice she was pointing her phone towards Mj and I. So Mj and I decide to "photobomb" her phone, and I could feel Mj wrapping his arm around me and squeezing me pretty tight. I looked at him funny, next thing you know he takes out this small jewelry box and gets down on one knee. I was so surprised I couldn't process anything else other than, "...marry me?" Lol. He didn't kneel for too long as he was kneeling on sharp gravel lol. He gave me the box, and was like..umm I think you're supposed to put the ring on me." Ha! Eventually he put it on :)

For all the days along the way
