In true Connor fashion, he had planned the perfect proposal. It was mid November and family was coming to visit the following week. One evening, Connor casually suggested that they should have a date night this upcoming Friday before family came into town. He let Anna know that he’d made a reservation at one of their favorite restaurants, Bon Appetite. A waterfront dinner right at sunset, sounds perfect, right? Not to Anna, apparently. “Ugh sorry babe but there’s no way I am going to be able to get ready after work and make it to Dunedin by 5:30. I think we’ll have to go somewhere else.” …..brat Anna is none the wiser as Connor seamlessly pivots, “yeah no worries, just let me know what you’re thinking.” They decide on staying in and making pizzas, as far as Anna is concerned. At this point, Connor knew it was time to bring in back up. He reached out to Anna’s teacher bestie, Shannon. Connor explained to Shan that Anna needed to be in Dunedin by 5:30 on Friday evening and asked if she had any ideas for how he could make this work. Shannon suggested that he has Anna leave work early so that she’ll have ample opportunity to get ready and make her way to the restaurant. She checked in with Anna’s principal to get the go-ahead and then the plan was in place. Come Friday at noon, Anna receives a text from an administrator that she is needed in the front office. “Kind of busy with the 20 kids I am in charge of but yeah, for sure”, she thinks but doesn’t reply, accompanied by an exaggerated eye roll. As soon as she dropped her students off at lunch, she stopped by the office to sign something, she assumed. However, what she found instead was a vase full of red roses and a note from Connor, stating that her weekend is starting early and she should immediately head home to await further instructions. Teary eyed and frantic, Anna yelled “I think I’m getting engaged!!” to no one in particular. She immediately found Shannon, tears and hugs ensued. Anna gathered her things and headed home where she found additional instructions, as promised. There was a dress laid out on the bed with a note instructing her to be ready by 5, which is when her driver will be outside. Upon arrival at the restaurant, Anna was escorted to the back deck where Connor waited with a bouquet of flowers and the most gorgeous ring Anna had ever seen. Connor, knowing Anna all too well, even hired a photographer for the occasion. Feel free to check out some of the beautiful photos under the gallery tab.
