Dan and Carly met the way many couples meet these days…on a dating app! Hinge, to be specific. It was the height of Covid-19 lockdowns, April 2020, when the two matched. Dan had only found Carly because he accidentally expanded his filters, but he choose to use the pickup line “I think I found the one, and her name is Carly”. Albeit suspicious and questionable, Carly decided to give him a chance. On a very windy first date in May, Dan brought gluten free crackers, a red Zinfandel, flowers and dog treats for Bandit - the adorable pup Carly had only just welcomed into her life the week before. On date #3 Dan turned his home into Carly’s favorite tiki bar “Del Mar” (“Del Marzouk” in this case), complete with tons of tropical liqueurs and a custom drink menu, a DJ booth and tiki decorations. Though Carly did reject Dan when he asked her to be his girlfriend, they decided to spend every weekend together from that point on. Not long after their trip to SLO for Carly’s birthday a few weeks later, she asked Dan to be her boyfriend. What followed was tons of adventures in the Bay Area, boujee dinners, homemade sushi, trips to SLO, charcuterie galore, and more! They moved in together after only 6 months and the rest is history. In 2022 they moved to FL and continued their incredible foodie adventures with their favorite sidekick Bandit. Dan proposed in August 2024, in a quaint village at the edge of the world overlooking icebergs in the village of Ilimanaq, Greenland, during their 18-course 2-Michelin-starred meal.
