We met in September of 2017 at work. At an Italian restaurant in the Valencia mall called “Sisley Italian Kitchen.” We worked at the host stand together seating tables. During the week, the restaurant was very slow, but that worked out in our favor because we became very close. We had the best conversations, started becoming friends, and best of all we made each other laugh…a lot. We spent Halloween, the holiday season, and new years 2018 together, at work. We would sneak bread sticks from the kitchen and eat them at the host stand when no one was looking. End of February, Jacob quit the restaurant and moved to Texas for a bit. We remained friends, but lost hope of anything happening between us. Fast forward to New Year’s of 2019, about a whole year later..we ran into each other at the Valencia mall. Jacob had moved back to California! All the old feelings came back but there was one issue…we were both seeing other people. The feelings stayed for months until July of 2019. We had run into each other again..at..the mall. That’s when everything started. The timing was perfect. Jacob asked Chloe out on a date on July 11th 2019. We had ramen and a movie and kissed for the first time and the rest was history.
We were in Kona, Hawaii. We spent the whole day traveling all around the Big Island. After two hours, we made it to the other side of the Island, Hilo. We saw the most beautiful waterfalls, hugged cows at a cow sanctuary, and had fresh coconuts & pineapples! Little did I know, Jacob had the ring loose in his pocket the whole day!! We drove two hours back to our hotel and got ready for a nice dinner in town. Jacob bought me a Hawaiian skirt and he wore a Hawaiian shirt. We walked into town almost every night of our trip, so I knew the route pretty well. This night in particular, Jacob took us on a different route. He walked us over to a secluded beach right at sunset. We talked and walked on the beach, before I knew it he got down on one knee and said, “will you marry me?” Easiest yes EVER! We celebrated at a restaurant right on the water with Pina Coladas! The next day happened to be my Grandpa Dons heavenly birthday. We found a restaurant named “Dons Mai Tai Bar” which happened to be his favorite drink. We celebrated our engagement on the beach on my grandpas birthday with his favorite drink! I’m sure he was smiling down on us.
