Amber grew up in the Midwest and it comes through in much of her vernacular. She still calls Kalamazoo, Michigan home and most of her friends can point to where it is on their hand (since Michigan is shaped like a mitt). She loves reading, planning over-the-top meals for loved ones with Zeke, and spoiling their dog, Milo Mayhem. One of her many favorite things about Zeke is his smile when he is proud of a joke that he's made.

Zeke is a born and raised Utahan. He loves photographing nature and is always excited to try something new... except when it comes to heights. When he isn't finding the best new restaurants, he's in the kitchen developing recipes with such incredible flavor. Zeke is a quiet instigator and goofy comic, always looking for his next moment of fun and looking to make his loved ones laugh. One of Zeke's favorite things about Amber is how excited she is to try new things and how she always surprises him with new adventures.

Zeke and Amber met on Bumble, the dating app, during the pandemic. The conversation was delightful and after a couple of weeks of talking, they decided to meet in person. Their first date took place in Provo, Utah where they met at a Chinese restaurant in the Riverwoods and then decorated a cake together at The Mighty Baker. The conversation was light-hearted and after the cake was beautifully decorated, Amber invited Zeke back to her apartment to eat it since she had not planned ahead on how to share the cake. That night they ended up talking for hours on her couch, sharing information about their pasts, what they enjoyed doing, and what they hoped for their futures. This was the first of many late-night conversations about their future.

Amber knew that she was already starting to fall in love with Zeke a couple of months in, so she obviously came up with an elaborate way to tell him and then chickened out in the end. Borrowing an idea from a friend for Zeke's 30th birthday, Amber sent him a song and a "favorite thing" or wish for him every day in September leading up to his birthday, the song the night before his birthday was "Beyond" by Leon Bridges. Amber played it for him at the drive-in, in between two superhero movies, cried, and then couldn't actually tell him. A couple of weeks later, Zeke kept asking why Amber was looking at him weird all day and by the time they got back to his apartment and were in his room, she told him with tears in her eyes, and he luckily felt the same way. According to Amber, things have always just felt in sync with Zeke. She loves his ability to calm her, boost her up, and make her laugh, There's a quote that she has long believed to be how love should feel, by Gawn Birdie, that says "I feel this gravitational pull towards you, like the universe and all the galaxies had a talk and said, 'yeah, it's time.'" While she doesn't know if the universe has that strong of a hand in lasting relationships, she does feel like she and Zeke met exactly when they were ready for each other.

Middle of January 2022, Amber "subtly" asked Zeke while they were home one night if they could talk about their timeline "for financial reasons" and because "weddings are expensive." While both of these are true statements, she really just wanted to have realistic expectations. They had previously talked about marriage being something they both wanted, but she was thrilled when he said, "The one phrase that is running through my head is 'Sooner rather than later.'" They decided on the spring of 2023 and started putting plans in place. The venue was found surprisingly quickly and just like that, a date was selected. May 7, 2023. Now they just needed the official proposal. At midnight, on May 7, 2022, Zeke and Amber had just crawled into bed and were cuddled up, when Zeke asked Amber if she wants to get married a year from today. With eyes closed, still curled into him, she said "Is it midnight? Yeah, I want to." To which he responded, "Will you marry me in exactly one year from today?" Amber opened her eyes and he was holding the ring box! She squealed "Yes" and then was far too excited to fall asleep.

Zeke and Amber are so excited to celebrate their marriage with loved ones on May 7, 2023. It will be an intimate ceremony and reception with Amber's sister, Gabby, officiating. They are grateful for the support of so many family and friends and wish that they were able to invite everyone who has positively impacted their lives.
