After Carolyn moved to Israel at the end of July 2020, she was required to do 2 weeks quarantine in a government provided hotel. There she spent the first week and a half busy with lots of work, yoga zoom classes, sun bathing on the balcony and friends visited from the gas station across the street. However as her 2 weeks was coming to an end and she had finished all the work she had saved up to do, she was getting rather bored. She heard from friends that the hotel was "secretly" selling beer and wine. She waited all day for the employees to come to sell "snacks". Once Ran and his friend Avishay arrived, she opened the door with excitement. After talking for a little while, Carolyn succeeded to secretly order a few beers from them. Ran kept finding every reason to return back to her room with the wrong change, a bottle opener, a bag of chips. Each time he suggested that they hang out once her time was done in the hotel but Carolyn was hesitant, so in the end they exchanged Facebook accounts. The next day Carolyn was so excited to leave the hotel that she left 3 bags in the storage room of the hotel. She tried to get someone to help her retrieve her bags but wasn't successful. Then she remembered Ran from the hotel and reached out to him to save the day. This was the first time Carolyn got to see Ran without a mask and thought to herself that maybe they should make future plans. A few weeks later they finally went on their first date in Florentine and the rest is history.
