How We Met

Kendall and Zechariah met in their very first class at UNCG, but it wasn't exactly love at first sight. Even though Kendall was checking him out on that first day, she ended up dating someone else from that class. Fate knew that wouldn't last and their paths frequently crossed throughout college. Over the years, they had a few more classes together and Zechariah would attend Kendall's health education programs to show his support. He helped her put up posters across campus, she gave him free blue raspberry nerds slushies at Sonic, and he volunteered at the food pantry that she ran. On one occasion, Kendall's former boss made a comment about how she and all her coworkers could see the "obvious connection" that was looming between them. By their senior year, both Kendall and Zechariah were two of ten students out of the entire graduating class who were selected for a prestigious award. They were already "talking" (whatever that means), but after that award night, deep down they knew something was blooming. After more than four years of chasing, Kendall and Zechariah went on their first date on January 1st, 2016. They ate at Dame's Chicken and Waffles followed by a showing of 'Concussion'. They were so enamored with one another that they didn't even realize it was a holiday until their waitress said "Happy New Year" on the way out. Ever since then, they have loved their anniversary date so much that they wanted to get married on the same day.

Q&A with Z&K

Favorite dessert? K: ICE CREAM! Z: Easily donuts, always the donut. Guilty pleasure TV show? K: The Masked Singer...sorry not sorry. Z: Haunted (*que Kendall rolling her eyes*) Which concert was your favorite? K: I'm torn between The Avett Brothers 2019 New Year's show in Charlotte and the first time we saw Chance the Rapper...we've seen both acts twice so clearly we love them both a lot. Z: It's gotta be seeing Sam Smith in Charlotte... I love them. Though Avett Brothers are a really close 2nd... and ALLEN STONE! Favorite dating memory Z: Wow, I have got to say that seeing Kendall's face right after we landed on the ground from skydiving was out of this world. It's been several years but I think that one takes the cake. K: Dang...I was also going to say skydiving, but I have a few others. One of my favorite was our day trip to Pigeon Forge in Tennessee. On our way to Alcatraz East aka the Crime and Punishment Museum, we stumbled upon the Bush's Baked Beans Visitor Center, aka The HAPPIEST place on earth (sorry, Disney). That place was incredible, they had an interactive timeline of the history of Bush's Baked Beans and they had a restaurant where we enjoyed delicious southern cooking and bean pie. Then we both had an amazing time at the crime museum (for those that don't know, I'm obsessed with true crime). Seeing Zechariah's reaction to the OJ bronco was priceless. What we look forward to the most at the wedding. K: It's certainly not the wedding I envisioned when we first got engaged. I was truly looking forward to having our closest family and friends there to celebrate us. What hasn't changed, and has remained my favorite thus far, is our photographer. She is so talented and has done an amazing job thus far capturing our love. Z: I am really excited to read my vows. I tear up just thinking about it. I also want to see my family watch me get married, especially my mom since I will be the first child/grandchild to get married in the family.
