We met at a coworkers birthday celebration and didn’t think much of it. We were the last 2 to leave and he was a gentleman and walked me to my car. He asked if I would call him to let him know I made it home and it's ok to call private. I took his number and agreed to call him upon my arrival home. I called and it wasn't private. I had 2 phones at the time so, I called from the phone I occasionally turned off. LOL. I mentioned to my coworker what happened after everyone left and he said, "that's cool. Neither of you are looking to be in a relationship. " That was soooo true. After a few days he call and mentioned a few people were going to see Kevin Hart and asked if I would like to go. A night out was always good especially when it's free for me. LOL. I joined him and we had a great time. He called again to invite me to go see Anthony Hamilton in concert with a group of people. Of course I said yes. What's funny is, NO ONE ELSE SHOWED UP! Hmmmmmm. We had a great time and when he sang his song titled, THE BEST OF ME, something just clicked. We continued on as just friends, talking and kicking it. Remember neither of us were looking for a relationship. But, after a trip out of town was a blast we both thought, “Okay. This could be something.”
I could not imagine life without Gerry. I wake up with a smile on my face and feel so much love. We talked about marriage not being something either of us wanted so when I started to think about it I really didn't think he would want to. I asked our mutual friend, his best friend, if he thought he would want to get married. Would he say yes if I asked him to marry me. The friend said yes he know he would. I still was a little afraid because I use to say I wasn't looking to get married. But I love him more than I was afraid of him saying no. I bought a ring and planned to ask him on Valentines day. Nothing I planned happened so I just went for it. I handed him a ring box and said, "Babe, you know I love you? " He said, "Yes. What's this?" I said, "Will you marry me?" He said, "HELL YEAH!" with a big ass smile on his face. He asked, "are you serious?" I said, "YES!" and put the ring on his finger. Who said tradition is best!
