It all started at Seth and Makenna’s wedding, where Abbey was rocking the bridesmaid look and Jimmy was holding down the groomsman side of things. God clearly had His hand in the details that night—Abbey caught the bouquet, Jimmy snagged the garter, and suddenly all eyes were on us. Jimmy figured that was his cue, so he walked right up and struck up a conversation. Abbey, never missing a beat, cracked a joke: “Guess it’ll be us, same time next year.” Spoiler alert: the Lord must’ve been smiling, because she wasn’t wrong. Jimmy really sealed the deal when he swept Abbey off her feet—literally—by teaching her to swing dance. The rest of the night was twirls, spins, and laughter, and from that moment forward, we were inseparable. Now, inseparable didn’t mean convenient. Abbey was in Wisconsin, Jimmy in Colorado, and Google Maps will happily tell you that’s about 15 hours apart. But distance was no match for what God had planned. With His strength and guidance, we filled our days with countless phone calls, racked up frequent flyer miles, and even met in the middle in Nebraska (because nothing says romance like cornfields). Through it all, God kept opening doors and drawing us closer together. We laughed, we prayed, we trusted His timing, and we fell even more in love. And now, here we are—grateful that God’s plan is always better than our own. Same time, different year, and this time, it really is our wedding.
