Casual spot for super fresh and super tasty fish! Some have said this is the best fish taco they have ever had.
Jake's Del Mar
Delicious oceanfront restaurant right in the heart of Del Mar. Make a reservation early to get a seat near the window! This is where we had dinner after we got engaged.
Beeside Balcony
Right across the street from L'Auberge, Beeside Balcony has amazing Mediterranean food in a charming outdoor setting.
Piatti
This Italian restaurant is a Zar family favorite (thanks to Melissa's maternal grandparents!). Make a reservation for the outdoor patio, and order the pappardelle or the Jidori chicken. And don't skip the ciabatta!
San Diego Zoo Safari Park
Most out-of-towners have heard of the world famous San Diego Zoo, but Safari Park is the Zoo's much larger sister location. Don't miss the tram ride! Pro tip: Safari Park is inland and is usually at least ten degrees warmer than the coast. Dress accordingly!
Moonlight Beach
There are endless beaches to choose from in the greater San Diego area, but we like Moonlight Beach in Encinitas because it has gorgeous cliff views, a snack bar, a parking lot, and public restrooms. Grab your lunch to-go at the Fish Shop and have a picnic!
Self-Realization Fellowship Meditation Gardens
Spend hours or just thirty minutes at these meditation gardens. The grounds are beautiful and the views are unmatched. Note: People come here to meditate and visitors are asked to be quiet and respectful.
La Jolla Cove
Visit La Jolla to see seals and sea lions hanging out. The area has some of the most beautiful beaches surrounded by cliffs, as well as great shopping and restaurants. A perfect way to spend an afternoon!
Coronado Island
Looking for a perfect day trip? Drive across the bridge or take the ferry from downtown to Coronado. The island is adorable and very walkable! End up at the classic Hotel del Coronado for lunch and a stroll on the beach.
Petco Park
The Padres are at home the week of our wedding! If you're taking a longer trip, this would be a great way to spend an afternoon or evening.
LEGOLAND California
If you're planning to be in the San Diego area for a few days and you're bringing kids (or you're an overgrown kid yourself), Legoland is in Carlsbad... just a short drive away from Del Mar. True confession: Matt and Melissa have yet to go, but maybe you can convince them to join you!
Balboa Park
Balboa Park is home to multiple museums, gardens, walking trails, and more... there is something for everyone! Some favorite spots to check out are the Spanish Village, the Botanical Building, and the Model Railroad Museum.
