The Meeting

15th of August 2015

Jack was born and raised in Geraldton, Zara moved there with her Mum in 2006. They attended high schools across the road from each other and had many a mutual friends but for some reason fate kept them apart for 9 years. One classic Geraldton night out, just after Jack had moved back from his first stint in Japan, he approached his dream girl and asked her for her phone number only to be told no. This happened a few times. He even followed her on to the night club. By this point Zara was a bit curious and tried to get his attention on the dance floor all the while playing the 'hard to get' game. By the end of the night no numbers or even names were exchanged and Jack was feeling pretty bummed. While waiting outside of the club (Zara had already gone home) he was telling one of his mates about the one that got away. The gentlemen noticed they weren't friends on facebook and endeavored to change that the next day. Lo and behold when Jack located his mates profile Zara was posing amongst friends in the picture next to him. Gotcha! Jack and Zara went on their first date the very next day.

The Living

We spent the next year living in Geraldton mostly recovering from broken bones and saving up for our adventures. The 3 years that followed were spent traveling the world, doing ski seasons, living out of back packs, vans and tents.

The Proposal

2nd of August 2020

Most of you should already know this story. Zara had stopped in at coastal town Mandurah for lunch with some girlfriends on their way home from a weekend away. Little did Zara know but Jack had actually organised with the girls which specific café they would be stopping at to surprise her. He had spoken with the café manager and arranged to hide in the kitchen until the perfect moment. Zara had been carefully positioned by the girls without her knowledge to be seated with her back to the kitchen as not to accidentally see anything she wasn't supposed to. While she was busy trying to boss the girls around she heard the staff coming out singing happy birthday, as her birthday was 4 weeks earlier she knew it couldn't be for her and joined in singing assuming it was for another patron. When she turned and saw Jack walking towards her singing and carrying a cake box a plethora of feelings came over her - how did you find me? what are you doing here on my girls trip? my birthday was over 4 weeks ago you dork! - Before she could vocalise anything, Jack was down on one knee and there was nothing that could be done to stop the constant streaming of tears.
