If this is your first time in Chicago, or your 50th time, nothing says Chicago like a Portillo's Italian Beef or Chicago-style hot dog. And for those of you brave enough for a 1,000 calorie drink, try the Chocolate Cake Shake
Our favorite restaurant! Make sure to come hungry, and swing by Bodega Sur down the street to pick up a good bottle of wine to accompany your Argentinian steakhouse meal. We swear by the El Filet, a perfectly cooked steak in red wine sauce with spinach mashed potatoes. Out of this world appetizers in a cozy setting, and afterwards, walk it all off as you head to Guthrie's, the neighborhood board game bar.
Chicago is famous for its corner, neighborhood bars, and Marquee Lounge fits the bill. BUT, it's famous for another reason. It's where Jordan and Justin met for the first time. If you swing by, celebrate the happy couple with a shot of Malort.
Justin popped the question here during the Christmas Zoolights! While you take a relaxing stroll around the zoo, you can imagine Justin's panic as he couldn't find parking while trying to time the proposal perfectly.
A great place to take the kids before the big day (or simply just explore if you're into cool science stuff)! The building is a leftover from the 1893 World's Fair repurposed to house the Museum of Science and Industry.
Pork and Cabbage, Beef and Onion, and the Pork and Dill are just a few of our favorites at this absolutely incredible dumpling restaurant. And if it's too crowded, no worries. Happy Lamb hot pot is another favorit of ours just around the corner.
A personal favorite of Jordan's in Logan Square. Jordan lived just a couple blocks away when she first moved to the city and Daisies served as the location for some special early dates for the happy couple.
Chicago's beer scene has plenty of breweries to choose from, but On Tour has always been a favorite. Bridesmaid Kelly Erickson, former On Tour employee, recommends the Reprise IPA or the Lightning Will German Pils. And if you're into a beer tour, the area surrounding On Tour has multiple breweries to check out.
As previously mentioned, Guthrie's is the perfect follow up to a dinner at Tango Sur. Just around the corner, take your pick of board and card games to play while drinking some of Chicago's many local brews. And if you're lucky, Tamale Guy (google it) may just grace Guthrie's with a visit while you're there.
April in Chicago is unpredictable. It could feel like summer, or it oculd feel like a cold winter night where all you want is a hot bowl of Ramen. Ramen-San is for those latter nights (or any night if you're anything like soup-loving Jordan)
Of all the excellent Italian restaurants, Topo Gigio is among the best. Justin has a deep love for the Tortellini Alla Panna, lactose intolerance be damned!
Ever heard of it? The Friendly Confines are a legendary place to see a ball game, and if the Cubs are in town, it's absolutely worth a visit. Stop by Sluggers on the way in for a shot at the batting cages or head to Murphy's Bleachers before heading into the stadium and joining the Cup Snake craze
