Travel Note
We recommend taking a taxi from the airport to your end destination. All black cabs must now take cards- so no need for cash. Uber operates from both Gatwick and Heathrow and is half the price. You have to go to a parking lot location to get your uber, the information for which pick up spot per terminal is on the Uber site: https://www.uber.com/en-GB/blog/london/using-uber-at-london-heathrow-airport/. The tube is now mostly “contactless,” the paper tickets cost double the price. Go ahead and look on your credit and debit cards for the contactless symbol, which looks like a WiFi symbol on its side. On US cards it’s often on the back of the card. You can then use this to tap in and out of the tube and for buses. You can also use this for purchases in cafés, pubs etc. Go ahead and download the “Citymapper” app before arriving. It tells you in real time the ways of getting from where you are to where you want to go, and the prices. It includes trains, buses, tube and Uber.
Travel Note
While looking for a place to stay in London, we recommend looking somewhat near the area of our venue, The Lauderdale House. Some locations we recommend nearby are, Highgate (location of wedding venue,) Hampstead, Kentish town, & Belsize park. We recommend Airbnb, Vrbo, and Travelocity for your search.
