I'll never forget the day Sofi and I first met—14 years ago at the iconic Sir Pizza in Key Biscayne. A friend of mine had organized a group hangout with her friends, mainly so he could go on a date with her (you know who you are!). I can still picture the moment she arrived, rolling into the parking lot in an oversized golf cart packed with 10 of her friends. When they walked inside, she sat next to me, and we started talking. We clicked instantly, and before the night was over, she gave me her BBM contact. A few weeks later, I invited her to a party and made the questionable decision to wear a cotton turtleneck sweater—during summer in Miami. Sweating buckets, I managed to ask her to be my girlfriend. Fast forward 13 years, and here we are—finally getting married!

I don't think either of us would have known what was to come from that one hang out at Sir Pizza. We officially started dating Sophomore year of high school (I somehow agreed to be his girlfriend despite the questionable outfit choice). Back to back BBM messages turned into regular Facetime calls while Zane lived in New York and I lived in Miami. While long distance is not ideal, we had great weekends in NYC and made incredible friends along the way. After a few years, I finally managed to get Zane to move down to Miami - and even more importantly - I got him to (reluctantly) agree to let Luna come live with us at our new home. From high school, to college, to law school, to our first home together, I guess after 13 years you finally know! Although, I am pretty sure Zane only proposed in order to get my dad's secret empanada recipe. All jokes aside, I am so excited that we are getting married and so grateful to be able to share this moment with our family and friends!

I've been told that I am likely not getting an invite to this wedding because I've personally victimized every person on this guest list.
