No, It is a US territory! Although if you have one it may be quicker/more helpful at the airport when getting off the island.
It could be beneficial to have access to a vehicle while on the island. They drive on the left side of the road (wheel is still on the left) so it does take some getting used to…but it isn’t as bad as it sounds! The roads can be steep and narrow so if you get car sick easily make sure to pack your meds! Also many car rental places will recommend a jeep but most of the driving on the island would not necessarily require 4WD (unless you are planning on doing more remote beaches/island hopping).
Yes! The couple and their family will have access to a vehicle (or two) and there are also taxi’s and safaris. These are usually cash only but can fit larger groups. We are also looking hire a local transportation company to help our group get around! Stay tuned for more info on that.
