We met at a Halloween party at Brendan and Emily's apartment (Sean's brother and sister-in-law). Sean dressed up as a doctor and Kristen dressed up as a "bowl of popcorn" (in case you were wondering, you can see pictures of these costumes under the "photos" section of the website ;) Kristen was one of the first guests to arrive to the party and shortly after, Sean and his large posse of what seemed to be rowdy college friends arrived. When Sean walked in the door, Morgan turned to Kristen and asked - "Have you ever met Sean?! He went to Penn State too!" She was always so excited to meet a fellow Penn Stater so she asked her usual first question - "When did you graduate?" Kristen was interested until she heard his answer...2016 (3 years younger) and immediately wrote that idea off because he was "too young" (LOL). BUT, as the night wore on, the two of them had lots of easy conversation, singing along to songs, flip cup and beer pong games, shamelessly flirting, and talking about favorite sushi rolls. Even though the next day Kristen told her mom she met this "really cute and nice guy" at the party, the timing wasn't quite right for either of them.
Fast forward 2 months, Kristen slid into Sean's Instagram DM's on Christmas Eve and the two of them talked back and forth nonstop. Sean asked Kristen out on their first date which was supposed to be a sushi date, but last minute Sean got tickets for the Pittsburgh Penguin's game- of course Kristen was more than happy to go with the new plan! Later in the relationship, Sean joked that if Kristen had said no to a Penguins game on the first date, he might have had to rethink the whole relationship ;)
Sean told Kristen that it was his company's first day back in the office and that he wanted Kristen to meet him and his coworkers for happy hour after work. Before Kristen left for work that day, Sean told her- "make sure you actually wear something nice since happy hour is at The Capital Grille" (maybe sometimes she likes to wear yoga pants and hoodies to work?!) After work, Sean told Kristen to meet him at his office (PPG Place). This happened to be the same location of the special fountains that Kristen used to walk to on her lunch breaks when she worked downtown for a calming stress relief. Extremely nervous, Sean awkwardly gave Kristen a one-handed hug when she walked up because his other hand was in his pocket covering up the ring box (why do they make those so big?!) and of course when Kristen arrived the fountains had JUST turned off. Kristen suggested to ask the security guard when they might be back on (while Sean sweated profusely). "Probably about 5 minutes," was the response. Even though it felt like an eternity to Sean, the fountains quickly turned back on. Sean got down on one knee and the rest is history :)
