We met at work in March 2017 when Jake transferred to the Menards location Sarah was working at in college. Jake became the Assistant Department Manager in the Millwork department where she worked. We hit it off and quickly became work friends! As the year went on, Jake started to win her heart over with his sense of humor, kind heart, and hardworking demeanor. And as it turned out, Jake had a crush on her too! By the fall, we started hanging out after work and going on dinner dates, some of which consisted of Jake telling Sarah to come over because he had surprised her by cooking what she texted him I was craving during her shift. In November, we took a weekend trip to Madison, WI to attend an Odesza concert. We spent the weekend exploring the city, taking photos with a film camera, and trying lots of delicious food. On the steps of the Wisconsin Capitol Building, on November 11th, 2017 we officially started dating!

Waupaca, WI has been a super special place for Sarah for her entire life. She's been going with family every summer since before she could walk, and it holds many happy memories celebrating the 4th of July on the lake. Sarah was so excited to welcome Jake into the family tradition when we started dating. The place means so much to Sarah that in 2017, she even got the coordinates to the pier at Pines Inn Cottages tattooed on her arm. Those coordinates would become even more special when they ALSO become the place Jake proposes 3 years later! It was a rainy afternoon when we went out to a nice steak dinner with Sarah's parents, Michelle and Danny, and Jake's parents, Caroline and Rick. After returning to the cottages, the sun was shining, so the six of us went down to the pier to take some photos of Jake and Sarah for Instagram. Our parents had taken a few when Jake said "I have another pose" and dropped to one knee asking Sarah to marry him! Obviously, the answer was YES!!! It was an extra high-pressure moment for Jake, with nearly all of Sarah's extended family watching from the cabins up above, all knowing what was about to happen, prepared with a big "She Said YES!" sign, party poppers...and shots of tequila! ------------ We cannot wait to celebrate the start of our next chapter with you all!
