How We Met

They say, "Art is a form of love" and for us, that's where it all started. We attended the same high school, and both played basketball there - so we already knew of each other, but the day he walked into my 5th period Art class, that's when we formerly met. Later that night was our school's homecoming dance. After the dance, I expressed my interest in him. I remember us sending each other text messages all that night. After homecoming weekend, we became closer friends - to where we would talk to each other about almost anything. About four months later, we officially started dating on February 5, 2009.

The Proposal

5.30.19

I had come home from a long day of work. It was on a Thursday evening around 5:30 pm in the month of May, so the weather was still nice. He knows I like walks when it's sunny out, so he asked would I like to go for a walk. Of course, I said yes. As we were walking, we noticed a lake nearby with a beautiful view. We decided to stop, sit down and continue to talk. We were having a great, casual conversation - as always ... so this moment was really unexpected for me. He stood up and walked closer to the lake. I followed. I stood in front of him and he wrapped his arms around me, as we stared at the waterfall. As we continued to converse, he told me that he couldn't wait for me to be his wife. I responded. Shortly after, he took my hand, turned me around, got on one knee, and "popped the question". My initial reaction was full of excitement and happiness. I was so speechless with nothing to offer but a smile on my face. I remember thinking to myself ... saying, "this is finally happening, we're getting married!"
