Here are some helpful tips to make your trip to Beirut smooth and enjoyable! If you have any other questions or concerns, please reach out to us!
Question

When should I arrive in Beirut?

Answer

We recommend arriving at least two days early to enjoy pre-wedding celebrations!

Question

Where will the pre-wedding parties take place?

Answer

Details will be shared after RSVP.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Dress to impress! Specifics will be provided closer to the date.

Question

Are children invited?

Answer

While we adore your little ones, our wedding will be an adults-only celebration.

Question

Will transportation be provided?

Answer

Transportation will not be provided. We encourage guests to coordinate carpools or arrange private transportation ahead of time.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

We recommend staying near Beirut! A full list of recommended hotels is available on the website, including where we will be staying before the wedding.

Question

Can I bring a plus-one?

Answer

Please contact the bride and groom directly regarding plus-ones, as it depends on the guest list.

Question

How do I get around Beirut?

Answer

Beirut is easy to explore with ride-hailing apps like Bolt or Careem, or certified taxis (look for the yellow or red city license sign). Sometimes the app price may be less than the driver requests in person. For ease, you can also hire a personal driver.

Question

Will I have mobile service in Beirut?

Answer

Yes! Beirut’s main mobile providers are Alfa and Touch, both offering 3G/4G/LTE. You can buy a SIM at the airport or a main provider store (cheaper than the airport). All guests must bring a passport—U.S. citizens, please bring your American passport.

Question

Do I need to exchange money when I land?

Answer

Don’t worry about converting money beforehand! All places in Beirut accept U.S. dollars. Carry a mix of smaller bills for convenience, and make sure bills are in good condition. Hotel staff can help if you need to convert money to Lebanese pounds.

Question

Can I use my credit or debit card in Beirut?

Answer

Most hotels, restaurants, and bigger stores accept Visa, Mastercard, and sometimes AmEx. Smaller shops, taxis, and street vendors usually only take cash, so have Lebanese pounds or U.S. dollars on hand. Outside Beirut, cards are rarely accepted, so make sure to withdraw enough cash before your trip—banks have daily limits.

Question

What if I need emergency cash from a bank in Lebanon?

Answer

Major banks (BLF, Fransabank, Bank Audi, Credit Libanais, Byblos, Bank of Beirut) sometimes accept international Visa or Mastercard cards at their ATMs. Withdrawals have limits and fees, and cash can run out. If your card doesn’t work or you run out of cash, Western Union is a reliable backup. Someone from abroad can send money, and you can pick it up at an agent location in Lebanon the same day—just bring your ID and the transfer number.

Question

Why can’t I use Zelle or Venmo in Beirut?

Answer

Even between Americans, Zelle and Venmo won’t work outside the U.S.
