Really it started with a swipe. Sarah decided to download the Hinge dating app again after a trip back to Virginia in July 2020, where her friend had just gone on a date. Dating strangers during covid? What a novelty! And then she saw a cute boy in a picture with his mama and she took a chance and sent him a message. Meanwhile, Zak was flipping through the app and saw a new face with green eyes and blonde hair. She asked who he lost the coin toss to that resulted in him shaving off his beard. It was easy and light-hearted banter from there, joking about what size engagement ring to get, and ended up leading to a date a few days later. Sarah was pretty smitten from the beginning with the boy who showed up to that first date with flowers and a preppy outfit. Zak saw Sarah for the first time and thought, “who is this girl without makeup?” Thankfully he looked past that and after dinner and bowling, he was pretty smitten, too. A year and a half later, and after many adventures (most of which were all make-up free), Zak asked Sarah to marry him on a Christmas trip to Disney World with Cinderella’s Castle illuminated behind them. A storybook start to their own Happily Ever After.
