Around New Years 2015, Lau's family was on a cruise in the Caribbean for vacation and my family was on the same cruise for my mom´s 50th birthday. While hanging out with some friends I had met on the cruise one night,we met Lau and her oldest sister. We talked most of the night and exchanged Facebook since there was no phone service on the ship, hoping to be able to meet up the next day. The following day I messaged her and my friends and I met up with her and her sisters. The more we talked the more I thought how she was so easy and fun to talk too, and she was BEAUTIFUL! We spent the entire night together talking and dancing and when the night ended we exchanged phone numbers. We had to go back to our own cities after that. However, after two months of phone calls, Facetime and one flight from Cincinnati to Houston we decided we wanted to begin dating.
Dating long distance was never easy, but I knew Lau was worth it and by the end of our first year together I knew I wanted to be with her for the rest of my life. We only had one weekend plan together between January and March to celebrate our anniversary, so I knew she would not be expecting anything. I worked with my parents, her sisters and her parents to come back down the next weekend and surprise her. We went to one of our favorite parks and I hid in a gazebo while her sisters brought her through the park. She was not expecting to see me and cried as soon as she saw me, and even more once I proposed. So far, it has been the best day of my life.
