After living a block apart for multiple years all it took was three snow days and one Spanish class together for us to finally start talking. A few weeks later we were facebook official.
Spring break in Florida is always a wonderful time to escape Michigans delightful winter weather. We spent most of our time soaking up the warm sun on the beach while we were down there. Beach adventure one was a shark tooth hunting exhibition, and were the first clue to his plans that week was revealed. As he stood knee deep in the ocean I ran back up to our bags to tuck away my phone which I had forgotten was in my pocket. Nervously he waited for me to come back down to the water. I return and he asked " You didn't see anything you weren't supposed to did you?". I give him a weird look and start looking for more shark teeth. Second beach adventure included us sitting down and watching the sun set. I had my camera set up on a tripod to snap some photographs of the setting sun, and finally got him to agree to take a few photos with me. Camera all set I push the shutter and run down to him (10 sec timer). But instead of him looking at the camera he looks down and is figiting with his pocket but stops just in time to partially look up. I glance at the picture and decide that it is probably the best picture he is going to let me take. The third beach adventure was my one request while we were in Florida, a chance to take some night photos. My chance to attempt to capture the beautiful starts while not in frost bite conditions. As I set my camera up Zak had thought ahead and brought his speaker to play music. A few songs in though he changes the music from rock to sappy love songs. About the time the song Marry Me comes on I have a good idea of what he is up to. But he caught me off guard when he mumbled "f**k it" to himself and spun around to face me. He got down on one knee and popped the question right there under the beautiful starts on the beach in Florida.
