Guillermo and Zaira have known each other since high school, go Class of 2016! Both were involved in JROTC, where their paths crossed many times, though their relationship never grew beyond a friendship. After graduation, life took them in different directions: Guillermo joined the Army National Guard, and Zaira went on to the University of Nevada, Reno. Over time, they lost touch and went on with their lives.
Everything changed in 2020 when Guillermo sent Zaira a friend request on social media. Reconnecting led to a summer lunch and walk at a local park, where they realized they had been living just five minutes away from each other all along. After a few more dates, Memo asked Zaira to be his girlfriend. Since then, they have built a life together, welcoming two fur rescues, Mavis and Rocky. In July 2025, during a trip in Cancun, Guillermo asked Zaira to marry him.
What started as a high school friendship turned into a love story that was simply waiting for the right time.
