Our favorite spot for a sunset stroll! It’s a modern, open-air waterfront with incredible views of the Old City. Ali’s Tip: This is the best place to grab a coffee or a cocktail and watch the cruise ships roll in.
For a dose of history, head to Sultanahmet. It’s home to the famous Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque, two of Istanbul’s most iconic landmarks and a must-visit for any first-time traveler! Pro Tip: As these are active mosques, remember to dress modestly (shoulders and knees covered). Ladies, carrying a light scarf in your bag for head covering is a good idea! We recommend visiting as soon as it opens at 9:00 AM to beat the crowds.
Get ready to practice your haggling skills! This is the ultimate place to shop for Turkish lamps, intricate ceramics, spices, and high-quality leather. Zainab’s Tip: If you see something you love, start by offering about 50% of the asking price—haggling is half the fun!
If you have a few hours to spare, we highly recommend a visit to this beautiful 16th-century hamam. Designed by the famous architect Mimar Sinan, it is one of the most iconic and meticulously restored bathhouses in the city. It’s the perfect way to relax and reset after your flight! Pro-Tip: The hamam serves women and men at different times of the day (usually women in the morning/afternoon and men in the evening), so be sure to check the schedule and book your reservation well in advance as it fills up quickly!
