We will still be getting married on July 2, 2020 via a virtual ceremony and due to the precaution of current circumstances we will have our wedding party moved to April 29, 2021. We hope you can celebrate with us on both dates!
His version: I first Met Zaibis in a coaching meeting where my Athletic Director introduced her as the New housing Director. From that day forward I noticed her but she did not notice me. I worked behind the scenes to gather as much information about her before our next encounter. Even though I would not know when that encounter would be I wanted to be prepared. Sadly our next encounter was in a hallway and all I ask "where in Miami are you from?" It wasn't until that summer I really went for it and wanted to see what could happen. I invited her out to our annual Basketball Tip-off dinner which was phase one, which she did come to. I shortly after asked her out to comedy show that we were having as a fundraiser and she said yes but ended up not coming out. The next time I asked her out she said NO! I eventually decided to give it one more shot before I said "f**k it". This time around I used some of the information I gathered to see if that would work. So I asked her to go bowling and she finally agreed to it. That night has changed our lives forever and wouldn't change it for the world! That's when she noticed me!
Her version: I would be lying if I said it was love at first sight but what I do know is this man has shown me what love looks and feels like and his kindness and attentiveness has not faltered since the moment that we met. We met while working at New York Institute of Technology, I was the Director of Housing and he was a Women's basketball coach and he invited me to work events until he did enough research about me to invite me out on a date. One date turned into two, two dates into three plus countless hours spent talking on the phone and the rest was history. I am so happy to have met Rob at the most perfect time to decide to live our lives together.
It was a regular work day, and Rob had asked that I not make any plans that night. We were in the midst of Basketball season and the busy semester and had not spent time together off campus in a few weeks. So I thought nothing of it, Rob is great about prioritizing our time together even during our busy schedules. The day came and and it was casual. He suggested going to have drinks at his friends' restaurant. We go there and it was relatively empty, so we sat at the bar. We had drinks, talked with Rudy (the owner), ordered food, had coffee, and had dessert. A nice night out. A the end of the night Rob asked for the check and asked me "Do you need to use the bathroom?" I answered No, and thought it was odd that he would ask me but immediately thought wow he is so considerate and he knows me and that I always need to go before we go. He shrugged, put on his jacket and said he was going to the bathroom. When he returned, I thought you know what I should probably go just in case. I remember thinking in the bathroom, "Well I guess it didn't happen tonight". When I left the bathroom, I was met in the hall by a waitress who tells me "Oh Rob wants to show you some pictures of Miami in the dining room" and points me to the left. As I turned left I was met with pink rose petals at my feet that led to Rob waiting for me on one knee holding a little black box. I walked towards him as Lauren Daigle sang "You are my Everything" and he asked me to spend the rest of our lives together. It was perfect!
