In 2019 I was living in Wausau where I quickly became friends with my neighbor across the hall named Caroline. I jokingly sent her a Snapchat one random night with me asking my Google Home to "find me a boyfriend". Which she did just that! She ended up sending me Justin's Facebook, who she knew through her boyfriend, Matt, at the time. Justin and I started our relationship with so many roadblocks. Looking back now, all we can do is laugh. First, when he reached out via Facebook, I never received his messages. The app was being super glitchy and it was super frusterating. When we finally switched over to texting, we set up our first date which was going to be a group date with Matt and Caroline. Justin lived in Oconto which meant he had to take the long 2 hour drive to Wausau for our first date. On the way there his transmission on his car busted. Luckily, this happened close to Wausau so Matt was able to pick him up and we still were able to go on our first date. The most expensive first date ever with the tow he had to take back! But, I would say it was worth it ;) Our next date, Justin invited me over for dinner at his house in Oconto. Silly me mixed up Oconto with Oconto Falls and I ended up in the wrong city, at the wrong house. Picture us on the phone, him sitting outside trying to find me, me driving up and down what I thought was the correct street trying to find him. Both of us super frustrated, but soon realizing my mistake, I was in Oconto Falls, not Oconto. It ended up being an amazing date, once I was in Oconto. lol. It all came to a head when Justin took me out to celebrate my birthday in 2020. It was an amazing night, filled with laughs, gifts, and deep conversations. It ended with Justin asking me to officially be his girlfriend. Hands down, the best birthday present ever.
