Answer

You should fly into Ted Steven’s International Airport in Anchorage, AK. The airport code is ANC.

How far is Palmer from Anchorage?

Answer

It is about a 45 minute to an hour drive to Palmer where the wedding will be held.

Should I rent a car?

Answer

Yes, I do recommend having a vehicle! You can rent a car through a company or through an app called Turo. Turo allows the rental of local vehicles for good prices. Having a car will give you the freedom of exploration in AK; not only will you be able to easily commute to the wedding venue, but you can venture out to see everything that Alaska has to offer! We recommend carpooling with others to save on costs.

Should we stay in a hotel or an AirBnB?

Answer

It’s up to you and where you want to stay! If you are planning on staying in Anchorage, you may want to look into hotels since there are so many nice ones to choose from! If you are looking to go outside of the city, then I recommend an AirBnB in Eagle River, Peter’s Creek, Wasilla, or Palmer.

What kind of activities should we do while we’re in AK?

Answer

Oh my gosh, do as much as you can! Sightseeing, hiking, museums, wildlife conservation viewing, bike riding on trails, eating at local restaurants, drinking and/or taste testing at local breweries. Check out the “Things To Do” tab on the menu!

What kind of gifts do you want for the wedding?

We’re hoping for money towards our honeymoon! There will be an online payment option available through our registry or an in person “honey fund” box for letters/cards!

You mention lots of places surrounding Anchorage for tourist destinations, can you give more info on those?

~Seward: About 2.5 hours south of Anchorage (I recommend a full day trip to here - port city, glacier cruises, SeaLife Center, local dining) ~Girdwood: About 45 minutes south of Anchorage (Alyeska Resort, Tram, Nordic Spa, Wildlife Conservation Center, ski town, hiking, biking, local dining, and breweries) ~Anchorage: Typically home base for people; airport located here (trolley tours, trail walking, bike rentals/riding, Anchorage Museum, bar scene, lots of restaurants, Alaska Performing Arts Center, Potter Marsh) ~Eagle River/Peter’s Creek: About 20-30 minutes outside of Anchorage (hiking, house rentals, grocery stores) ~Wasilla: Zack and I live here! About 45 minutes North of Anchorage (local restaurants, Mat Su Resort, Newcomb Lake, grocery stores) ~Palmer: Wedding Venue Location - Mountain Field Farm; about an hour from Anchorage (local restaurants, coffee shops, stores, parks)
