In 2007, we were in the same kindergarten class and spent our time chasing each other on the playground and rather obviously holding hands on the reading mat, even though we were trying to hide it from our teachers. Zack was the only boy invited to my sixth birthday party and let's just say he was a heartbreaker from the beginning. The party was princess-themed, as sixth birthdays are, and everyone was encouraged to dress up as their favorite princess. Zack showed up on my doorstep in a prince outfit with a dozen red roses. I dried and saved the first flowers I was given by a boy, and actually kept them for many years. After we graduated from Pre-K, we went on to different elementary schools and were not in contact for the next thirteen years. I had always wondered what happened to Zack and what he was up to in his adult life. So, one day I decided to try and find out. After several Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter searches, and a few very confused men who were not the right "Zachary Erickson", I had no luck in finding him (we can blame his Instagram handle for that one). I ended up sharing a Tweet about looking for him, with no idea that it would actually work. A mutual friend from elementary school sent me a message and gave me his Instagram. I decided to send him a message asking if he was my "kindergarten boyfriend" in March 2020. At this time, Zack was in Florida training to become an EOD Tech. We quickly became close friends and spent the next seven months catching up on all of the things that had happened in our lives since we were six years old. He showed up on my doorstep the day after he got home from Florida in October of 2020, and we have been nearly inseparable ever since. Thank you for being a part of this new beginning. Love, Zack and Ashlee
