Our story starts in a small island in South Korea called Youngdo. Esther and Zach both grew up on this island and attended the same church. However, did they know each other? No. Did they run into each other? Probably every Sunday in between the bamboo trees which both of them claim to have hung out. Esther moves to the United States at the age of 10, and Zach and Esther do not hear about each other until circa 2004. They are both in high school, Esther in Maryland, Zach still in Korea. Their mutual friends tell them about each other, sparking each other's curiosity. The story fast forwards to 2018, when Zach decides to study abroad in the US. While he prepares himself to move to the US, Esther visits Korea to attend church trainings. Their mutual friends set up unsuccessful meetings in order to introduce them to each other. However, this wouldn't be a successful love story if they were not able to meet. Esther calls him one afternoon after church in order to say hi. They sit down together after service just discussing Zach's plans in Syracuse, and their mutual friends. As the summer rolls, Esther and Zach both back in the United States continue to keep in contact. Neither of them can say for sure when exactly they knew that they were meant for each other. However, they knew for sure when God had planned each of their Covenant Journeys, He planned them to be walking side by side. After Zach finishes his studies in Syracuse, he moves down to DC and begins working, and continues to seek ways to be involved in international development. Esther continues to be an elementary school teacher in Maryland. Meanwhile, they continue to serve the same pastor in DC that was actually once their Sunday School pastor back in Youngdo, who will also be officiating their wedding. This is how Esther and Zach's Covenant Journey proceeds.
