I (Trinity) first met Zach back in 2016 for Tanner’s birthday. After playing some football and Zach ending up in a pile. He took me and some of Tanner’s friends for a ride in his second gen baby, and we went our separate ways. Fast forward about a year and I’m being nice, offering to grab Zach beers. Various times throughout the remainder of that year we would run into each other for various reasons. In 2018, Zach sold me his second gen baby and that truck would become the key to us staying in touch. When the truck was wrecked, we tried working out ways to get her fixed but it never managed to work out (or so I thought.) That next year he’d call randomly to talk about the truck, I never thought anything different than friendly conversation. Looking back, I may have been wrong but it wasn’t until he needed a ride home from the bar that he finally made “his move.” Zach has never been one for texting, so getting a call was normal. Just not at 11:00PM on a Friday night. He asked me if I’d come get him and take him home. This bar was in the middle of BFE but I wasn’t going to say no. I can’t navigate in the dark so in an attempt to use GPS, he tells me he will give directions. I should have never trusted the drunk man with directions because I drove to Melcher-Dallas before realizing we were going the wrong way! All of which being on purpose so he could ask me on a date. He got a less than ideal response, but I didn’t say no! A few weeks later, I texted him to see if he was serious about a date and didn’t get a response. Having no clue he was taking care of breaking the law, I assumed it was drunk man talk. By Friday, I had accepted it for what I thought it was, until he answered my text from the beginning of the week. I was going to wait and respond in a few days, until he called me 2 hours later knowing I saw the message because my read receipts were on. And the rest is history!
