We met through an online dating site (crazy, I know). We talked everyday for over a month. We talked about silly things and serious things. We became best friends. Finally, Zach asked me out on a date. I said no. But luckily he asked again pretty quickly and thankfully, I said yes.
There is debate about the specific date solely due to the timing of everything. Regardless of the specifics, New Years will forever be one of my favorite holidays to celebrate. We were in our very first apartment. We had left up the Christmas decor and were watching the ball drop in Times Square on the TV. Suddenly, the countdown is on and Zach gets up. Hidden in a dinosaur skull on our bookshelf, is a ring box. He gets down on one knee and proposes. Now, remember, this is New Years at home so I was in pajamas so I knew he really did love me. It was the easiest yes.
Asheville, NC will always have a piece of my heart. Zach and I had talked for a long time about having a private elopement. Being able to marry the love of my life while living out my Disney fantasies on the side of a mountain at sunset was a dream come true. And now we look forward to celebrating our marriage with those we love in January.
