In December of 2016 I stole Zach's heart by buying him food from our University's eating facility (If anyone needs Zach's attention, just make sure food is incorporated somehow). It was at that moment that he knew I was something special. At 2am (not sure why we were both up) on January 3rd of 2017 he messaged me and we started getting to know each other. We bonded over the mutual love of High School Musical, Pizza, Kwik Trip, Texas Roadhouse buns, and most importantly, Jesus. Soon after that we started hanging out in person (once we weren't scared of each other anymore). After our nightly games of ping pong in the basement of Wilgus hall during finals week, we both knew that we had found our person. 10 months later on October 14th of 2017, we started dating (finally). Over the course of the next 2 years, we learned a lot about each other which grew us closer together, and also to God. We give all the glory to him for putting our paths together and we are so grateful for the opportunity to learn how to love each other more through him.
On Friday the 13th (yes, that's bad luck) of September, 2019, he asked me to marry him in the most perfectly imperfect way. His original plan was to do it on top of the gorgeous "M" at sunset, but once we got there things changed. With a parking lot full of cars he became frustrated because he wanted our special moment to be done in private. He was a nervous wreck. He kept looking around while putting his hands in and out of his pockets. When he realized that the people there weren't leaving anytime soon, we left and went for a drive. I had a good idea of what was happening, but played along as the "clueless" girlfriend. With my help, we decided to go on a walk to a cute gazebo, but once again, there were people there, and it didn't happen. With disappointment and empty stomachs, we decided to eat at Subway. Zach's plans were already different than expected, but changed even more when his car got backed into while we were sitting in the Subway parking lot. Luckily, the damage was minor, but we were traumatized. We went back to his apartment, turned on live PD, and ate our food. He was awkwardly standing there, so I stood up and looked at him. He said lots of sweet words which touched my heart and moved me to tears. Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. With tears in my eyes, I responded "Well yeah!" and he put the ring on my finger (the wrong one at first). To celebrate, we continued watching live PD, went to the police station to report the accident, and got milkshakes from Kwik Trip. It was a perfect engagement. We are so excited to spend the rest of our lives together and more excited to share our special day with all of our friends and family. Love to all, The happy couple
