How We Met

His First "Slick" Moment

We officially met for the first time in the Tremont High School auditorium when Zach asked me to prom with a bottle of Ski. He had been extremely nervous and was so relieved that I said yes to be his date, that he forgot everything else and walked away! Thank goodness for friends who directed him right back to me as I stood there holding the bottle of Ski and wondering why he was so quick to leave! That was our very first encounter, his first "slick" moment with me, and what started our journey together that God had planned.

Our Engagement

02.17.19

I had told Zach that if he could actually propose without me finding out that I would be thoroughly impressed. He responded with, challenge accepted. Little did I know that he had asked my Dad for permission and went ring shopping the next day. I had actually found the email with the receipt for the ring, but he was quick on his feet and stated that he was simply "looking" for rings and that I shouldn't get my hopes up. Of course, I believed him. On February 17th We went to Naperville on what I thought was supposed to be double date. (I did glance at his pant pockets just to make sure he didn't have a ring box - and he didn't.) Once we had arrived, his roommate (who had actually been carrying the ring the whole time) secretly gave it to him. Zach then put his arm around me and began to walk and talk about our relationship. As we journeyed down the path, we talked about our dating journey over the past few years. We then crossed over the bridge and his demeanor began to change and nothing could hide the joy on his face now. He turned towards me, reached into his pocket, and began to get on one knee. I was shocked and the tears came instantly! My dream of marrying my best friend had just become a reality and I was overjoyed and immediately said yes. He then gave me a handwritten letter which brought more tears as that is my favorite thing to receive from him. Finally, he smirked at me and said, "I pulled off the proposal without you knowing it was coming!"
