L: After knowing each other our whole lives, I thought it was crazy that THE Zachary Rockers asked me on a date! Knowing that I'd have a summer at home (thx Covid) before I moved to Kansas City, I thought that I might as well see where this takes me! We decided to go on a golf date a couple days later. I don't know if it was the number of mulligans he so generously gave me or my stellar swing, but he has been golfing with me ever since (but gives me a lot less do overs....) Z: There was just something about her. It all started with a semi-joking comment from my future father-in-law that Luci was single. It took quite a while to muster up the courage... but after a Rockers-Francka family fishing night, I was so excited to ask Luci Francka on a date. She was a girl I've known my whole life but now was someone I really wanted to get to know. After easily beating her on our first golf date, it only felt right to ask her on a second date, and then a third... which turned into the best summer of my life with my newfound best friend. L: Our summer together at home went too fast and then Zachary helped me move to KC. Little did I know (or maybe I really did know deep down) that the man driving a U-haul 55mph on I-70 would be my husband one day. We've had lots of KC barbecue taste tests and Boulevard beer since that day, but no weekend seems to be long enough to soak in all that we want to do! But working from home (thx Covid!) let us spend more time together in Jeff City during the week and even get to cheer on the Helias football team a time or two.
Z: When Luci moved to KC, the cheesy and overused Winnie the Pooh quote made sense to me for the first time in my life... “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” But as much as I missed Luci, I started to cherish the little things... like sweet texts, random phone calls, and trips to KC whenever I could find a free day. It quickly became so clear how much joy, peace, and happiness that Luci brought to my life. It was never a matter of if, but rather a matter of when. As summer began to approach, I began to scheme how I would ask Luci to be by my side for the rest of our lives. L: Over a year of laughs, smiles, trips, and driving back and forth between KC and Jeff City, I knew that the summer would be one of the best. After a weekend spent with our family at Table Rock Lake, I came back with a ROCK from my Rock ;) I just can't wait to marry this man! He is everything good and I love him more every day! May 21, here we come!! Z: Luck had it that on the day I asked Brian to lunch to ask for Luci's hand in marriage, his truck was in the shop so I had the privilege of picking him up from work and driving him to Sweet Smoke BBQ... Talk about a nerve wracking drive! In classic Brian fashion, he chuckled and said "you usually just text me to ask if you can go fishing at the farm, but it sure is nice to take me out to lunch first." After getting his blessing, I couldn't wait to ask Luci to be my bride. So on a beautiful day at Table Rock surrounded by our families, I got down on one knee (although I almost forgot to...) and Luci said YES!
