FAQs

Question

Where should we stay?

Answer

Shiner is small and does not have many hotels! Or any, actually. But we have a Shiner Inn and several Airbnb/VRBO options in and around town. There are also hotels in neighboring towns that are 10-20 minutes away (Halletsville on the Houston side, Gonzales on San Antonio side, Yoakum south). Check out these links: airbnb options: https://www.airbnb.com/shiner-tx/stays VRBO: https://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/houses/usa/texas/prairies-lakes/shiner Shiner Country Inn: https://www.shinerinn.com/ Halletsville Hotel Texas: https://hoteltexas.net/ Halletsville Best Western: https://www.bestwestern.com/en_US/book/hotel-rooms.44565.html?iata=00171880&ssob=BLBWI0004G&cid=BLBWI0004G:google:gmb:44565 Yoakum Black Gold Inn: https://maps.app.goo.gl/8dYPKBvGy1bPGkhQ9 Gonzales La Quinta: https://www.wyndhamhotels.com/laquinta/gonzales-texas/la-quinta-gonzales/overview?CID=LC:6ysy27krtpcrqev:53307&iata=00093796 Gonzales Dilworth hotel: https://thedilworth.com/ Gonzales Holiday Inn: https://www.ihg.com/holidayinnexpress/hotels/us/en/gonzales/ausgo/hoteldetail?cm_mmc=GoogleMaps-_-EX-_-US-_-AUSGO ***We encourage you to plan your accommodations as soon as possible due to Shiner and the surrounding area's housing limitations!***

Question

We are not familiar with Catholic masses. What do we need to know?

Answer

Catholic (matrimony) masses are beautiful, reverent, and full of tradition. Marriage for us is rooted in our faith and love of God, so we ask that all those attending the wedding mass/ceremony be dressed modestly to be in God's house (shawls and cover-ups are great) before heading to the reception. We also stress that everyone is welcome to the Catholic Church and we are so happy to share such an important part of our lives with visitors! **But we must emphasize that during communion, please only receive the body and blood of Christ if you are a Catholic person in full communion with the Catholic Church.** Otherwise, feel free to remain sitting in the pew or to walk up with your arms crossed over your chest to receive a blessing.

Question

Can I bring my children?

Answer

Yes absolutely! Little ones are very welcome. Sacraments should be witnessed and celebrated by all! Please bring the whole family.

Question

Will there be food options for those of us with allergies?

Answer

One-half of this duo is gluten intolerant and lactose intolerant, so have no fear! There will be gluten-free options and gluten-free cake, as well as low/no dairy options and vegetarian foods available.

Question

What should we wear?

Answer

Sunday best to semi-formal dressy to spring formal. We really just want you to come and to feel pretty. We mostly just ask for modesty while in the church.

Question

Where Am I Sitting?

Answer

We have table assignments! They will be published at the reception venue, but if you'd like to know beforehand, the assingments can be found here: https://www.canva.com/design/DAHELMe-Mlo/HyTcpXJBWzkt1MwmYNutxg/view?utm_content=DAHELMe-Mlo&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=uniquelinks&utlId=h1db1bd874a There are extra seats at tables 44 and 45, and open overflow seating downstairs in the dining hall (where the buffet will be).
