Zachary and I met on April 20th, 2017, at the House of Blues. Though people assume that we met while attending Vanguard University, our story began when a mutual friend asked us to volunteer at a charity event where the band, Cheap Trick, would be performing to raise money. Fate took care of the rest and sat us next to each other while working the check in table. In typical Megan fashion, I introduced myself and began asking him an extensive amount of questions. As the conversation developed, so did my interest in him. I vividly remember connecting with Zach immediately & thinking that there was something special about him. We still joke about my unabashed flirting in an effort to communicate that "I Want You to Want Me." When the event was over, he walked my friend & I to our car & thus ended our one night rendezvous. “The Flame” was definitely there for me that night, but Zach's feelings wouldn't develop until later. Fast forward one month and we both graduated college. I saw him after we received our degrees & decided to shoot my shot by saying hello. Zach ignored my advances & still claims he didn't notice me. It was incredibly awkward & of course, I won’t let him forget it! Another month goes by when I received a snapchat from Zach while he was competing at his track & field nationals. Though some are convinced that social media is the fall of mankind, our millennial tendencies benefitted us as we began snap chatting, texting, & talking on the phone for hours on end. Eventually Zach came to visit California from his hometown of Reno, Nevada. During this time, we enjoyed each other's company but decided against starting a relationship due to long distance. Shortly after this decision we realized that wasn’t what either of us wanted. When it was my turn to visit him in Reno, we chose to embark on the most amazing journey together. Here we are five years later, celebrating the greatest love I’ve ever experienced. The HUNT is over & I cannot wait to marry him!
I knew quickly after Megan & I started dating that I wanted to marry her. Knowing this early on, I acted fast and moved back to Southern California to start planning our lives together. Fast forward a few years & it was time to plan the most important question I could ask Megan. Megan grew up near the beach, so I knew that would be the perfect place to propose. After much deliberation with my good friend Josh, I chose Crystal Cove. I scouted out the area beforehand to devise a plan. I coordinated with my other good buddy Christian to fly from Reno & secretly photograph the big moment. Afterwards we would drive back to her parents’ house where our friends and family would be waiting to celebrate us. The morning of, I was the most nervous I had ever been in my life. I remember trying to act as normal as possible while Megan & I worked out together. Since it was Valentine’s Day, I told her I had a surprise date planned. Megan doesn’t read into things so I used this to my advantage. We drove down to the beach, chatting about everything EXCEPT getting engaged. I made sure of that. It was a busy morning so I parked further away than my previously planned spot. I didn’t let this deter me & I tried to act like this was all part of the plan. We made our way down to the beach, I laid out the towel, busted out my portable speaker & we started eating. I was so nervous I couldn't eat. Megan told me later that she thought it strange that I wasn’t very hungry – so much for keeping it cool. Once we finished eating we walked toward the water & Christian readied himself to capture the moment. Finally, I dropped down on one knee & asked her if she wanted to be mine forever; she gleefully hopped up and down and said yes over & over again. My plan came together perfectly! We drove back to her parent's house, opened the door & were greeted by the people who are closest to us, completing the proposal. It was one of the best days of my life and will only be bested by our wedding day!
