We met during the last semester of college at a bar—a classic meeting spot for two University of Delaware students. In true Madison fashion, I confidently walked up to Zach and started chatting his ear off about who-knows-what. I told him I was an old soul who loved old music, and when he asked what kind of music, I proudly said Green Day. Not exactly old music—he thought I meant Bobby Darin old—but it made him laugh, which is always a win in my book. That night, I must’ve given Zach my Snapchat, and he started snapping me every day. True to my college-girl self, I barely responded (sorry, Zach!). But a couple of weeks later, I posted a Snapchat story from Kate’s, one of our favorite college bars. To my surprise, Zach showed up—by himself—to ask me to his fraternity’s date night. If you know Zach, you know this was a big deal and very out of character. He also never went anywhere without his friends. Of course, I said yes, and we had the best time dancing, laughing, and singing Galantis at the top of our lungs lol. The night ended with me ordering $60 worth of Wingstop (none of which were wings) to his house. I sat on the couch eating my greasy food (with no napkin), something his clean-freak tendencies wouldn’t normally allow, but he let it slide. From that moment on, we were inseparable. After graduation, we grew up together, figuring out how to be adults and true teammates. We’ve always been each other’s biggest supporters, whether we’re chasing dreams, navigating challenges, or just hanging out doing absolutely nothing. We let each other be exactly who we are—me, the hyper, messy, silly, life of the party, and Zach, the quirky, clean, Ross Geller-esque, loyal, hardworking guy. When Zach proposed, it was an automatic yes. We’re best friends and soulmates, and we can’t wait to keep choosing each other every day for the rest of our lives!
