When Katie started her first job, Zach was just the cute guy who sat near the printer. In the following months there were long nights at work, after hours pool games and plenty of coworker parties in the city. By May, we had our first kiss, by July we were calling each other boyfriend and girlfriend (and met the parents) and by October we were living together on the other side of the country.
On our last night in Chicago before we road tripped to our new home in Austin, after a full day of cleaning and packing, we biked down to the lakefront for a picnic of whatever was still left in the fridge. As we were taking in the view of the city one last time, not knowing when we would be back, Zach put the cheese and crackers away before they were gone. That's when Katie knew something was up. Zach got down on one knee and we both promised to spend our life together. We then celebrated with friends and family, with lots of champagne and cake, until it was time to take off on our adventure the next day.
