In addition to running a Jewish summer camp, OSRUI also operates a year-round retreat center with hotel-style and dorm-style lodging. All rooms come with comfortable linens and towels and are heated and air-conditioned. You can see more by visiting OSRUIretreat.org.
Typical Friday night dinners are for out-of-towners, so knowing none of our guests live in Oconomowoc, everyone is invited! On Saturday, all guests are welcome to spend the day at camp and either participate in some scheduled activities (more info to come on these!) or walk the grounds and enjoy the scenery. Those staying at camp will have breakfast and lunch provided in the dining hall, and those in hotels are encouraged to check out the local restaurants and cafes for takeout to bring with you to camp for a picnic!
Absolutely! If a full weekend at camp isn't your idea of a good time, we would still love to see you for the ceremony and reception on Saturday. You can either spend a single night at camp or see the travel page for our hotel blocks.
Friday night is dressy casual. Think sundresses, flowy pants or skirts, khakis, fun patterned shirts. No ties needed! Saturday during the day, come as you are. Extra brownie points if you wear a camp t-shirt or tie-dye. The ceremony and reception on Saturday evening is cocktail attire. Think midi dresses, jumpsuits, jackets and ties. The ceremony will be held outdoors, so bring a light sweater or shawl in case it's chilly! We also recommend opting for wedges, low heels, or flats instead of stilettos as we will be walking on gravel pathways to get from the ceremony site to the reception. For Sunday brunch, wear whatever is comfortable for your travels back home. No one will judge if you come in pajamas!!
This will not be the same mess hall meals you may remember from your summer camp days. You can expect nourishing food with many options at each meal as well as some special treats throughout the weekend. The cocktail hour and wedding reception meal will also be served by an outside caterer. Please let us know about any dietary restrictions/allergies in your RSVP! *All food served from the camp kitchen will be Kosher style. All of the meat served from the camp kitchen will be certified Kosher meat.*
